Apple pie

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups of Banaplus green banana flour

  • 1/2 cup of cold butter (cubed)

  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

  • A pinch of salt

  • 1 egg

  • 2-3 tablespoons of cold water

For the filling:

  • 6 apples (Granny Smith or your preferred variety)

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of Banaplus green banana flour

  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix the green banana flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

    • Add the cold butter cubes and mix with your hands or a pastry cutter until you achieve a sandy texture.

    • Add the egg and mix well. If the dough is too dry, add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until it forms a compact dough.

    • Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Prepare the filling:

    • Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly.

    • In a bowl, mix the apples with the brown sugar, green banana flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.

    • Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the apples to release their juices.

  3. Assemble the pie:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

    • Remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it into two parts. Roll out one half into a circle large enough to cover the bottom of a pie pan.

    • Place the rolled dough into the pan, gently pressing the edges.

    • Add the apple filling and place small pieces of butter on top.

    • Roll out the second half of the dough and cover the pie. You can create a decorative design or cut it into strips to make a lattice.

    • Seal the edges and make small cuts on top to allow steam to escape.

  4. Bake:

    • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.

    • Remove from the oven and let it cool before serving.
